Welcome to Season ELEVEN. This marks new decade of growth and change for Theater Alliance with a new re-shaped mission that more accurately reflects our direction forward:
To develop, produce and present socially conscious, thought-provoking work that fully engages with our community in active dialogue.
We will create and share art that matters. You are going to see over the next year a Theater Alliance that is familiar and at the same time completely new. You will still see all the things that you have come to expect from Theater Alliance; thought-provoking daring texts and emotionally filled stories, but you will also begin to see us developing new work both with local playwrights and with ensembles of artists. You will see daring new pieces of theater from all over the world. And we will be presenting artists whose work you may not otherwise be able to see. All of this will be aimed at opening dialogue with you.
We will be doing all this because we have a strong new staff of four young talented and driven individuals that have bought into our rejuvenated mission.
We ask you to come with us on the journey of these three main stage productions, while also staying involved in the development activities of the Hothouse reading series, and the new piece that we are developing.

Forbidden to travel, he turns his isolation to his own advantage with a play that requires no director, no set and a different actor for every performance.
Wonderful World of Dissocia
By Anthony Nielson
Directed by Colin Hovde and Nathaniel Mendez
June 11- June 29, 2014
Anacostia Playhouse
Lisa Jones has been feeling a bit off. One hour off, in fact; the hour she lost when her flight to London crossed the Greenwich meridian at the exact moment daylight savings time ended. To retrieve her wandering hour, Lisa must take a journey…to Dissocia, where cars fly, bears sing, and the Black Dog King reigns. This wildly inventive, fearlessly smart, and relentlessly surprising play by the author of last years The Night Before Christmas will take you places you never expected and will never forget.
We will be growing our Hothouse on the Hill series – developing new, unproduced works from area playwrights and beyond.
A multi-faceted project, The Hothouse allows playwrights to work in collaboration with Theater Alliance’s artistic staff as well as professional theatre artists from the DC area to create strong, engaging, and exciting new work that speaks to the ideas and concerns of DC communities. After spending 5 months developing their new plays, playwrights Liz Maestri, Psalmeyene24, and Lee August Praley will work with a creative team for one week before presenting their new works to the public in staged readings that will feature many of DC’s favorite performers…
Monday in April we will have a reading followed by a conversation with the playwright, director, actors, and YOU! Mondays in April.
