With Etta’s death rapidly approaching, her grown children return home, reviving the wild, reckless, and brutal games of their youth. When long-buried secrets are resurrected, the games become battles that threaten to tear the family apart. A raucous new performance event that blends theater, dance, and art installation, Still Life with Rocket delves into the fragmenting mind of a dying matriarch and the strength of the family she created.

What They Say

“In addition to the phenomenal acting and dance, “Still Life with Rocket” was successful thanks to its set (Andrew Cohen and Patti Kalil), lighting and projections (William K. D’Eugenio, Kelly Colburn), and sound (Matthew M. Nielson and Tosin Olufolabi) designs.”

MD Theatre Guide

“At its core, Mollye Maxner’s “Still Life with Rocket” is one of those complex, emotional theatrical dramas that grow out of an uneasy reunion, where cracks in the family unit become increasingly and tragically clear…[but] has much more than that going for it.”

img
Broadway World

“Unusual and highly satisfying...a gripping portrait of a damaged family coming to terms with past mistakes.”

img
The Washington Post

"Language, story, performance, atmosphere...Still Life succeeds [in all four of these elements,] for every minute of the play.”
